Columbus, Ohio - On Saturday, June 23, join Lifeline of Ohio staff, volunteers and supporters as they celebrate the “Gift of Life” during Walk with a Doc Donate Life Day at the Highbanks Metro Park, located at 9466 U.S., 23N, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035.
Walk with a Doc’s mission is to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and to reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country. Walk with a Doc was created by Dr. David Sabgir, a board-certified cardiologist who practices with Mount Carmel Clinical Cardiovascular Specialists—at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s. Each week, residents from 18 states around the country gather at local parks and venues to walk together while spending time discussing healthy living and preventive care.
Donate Life Day will kick off at 8:30am and attendees will get to hear from a local organ transplant recipient as well as a Mount Carmel Health System physician who is familiar with the process of organ and tissue donation.
After a short introduction, participants will get the chance to choose one of three walking paths:
Big Meadows Path: 1 mile, easy, paved, ADA accessible, can be extended slightly by adding on Scenic River trail. This is the path the doc walks.
Coyote Run: 3.5 miles, moderate, grass and dirt surface, fairly level, pets welcome.
Dripping Rock: 2.5 miles, moderate to difficult, gravel surface, steep ravines.
Individuals touched by organ and tissue donation will walk every path, giving attendees the chance to chat further about organ and tissue donation as well as the impact it can make.
The first 100 people who show up to Walk with a Doc Donate Life Day will receive a free Donate Life water bottle! So strap on your walking shoes, invite your friends and family and show your support for organ, eye and tissue donation on June 23rd at Highbanks Metro Park!
